dt_addtosourcecontrol usage

I found the stored procedure meantioned in the subject line, and
several others, that appear to be Source Safe related within a database that
I am working with. I kow that they a default created with a DB but does
anyone know anything more about them? Do they gave the ability to Source Safe
SQL server? I can find no documentation or help for them anywhere so I was
hoping someone here might know something about them.

I think they are used by the Visual Studio data project interface, to check
objects into and out of SQL Server databases.
