In SQL Server Management Studio, in Object Explorer, connect to the
Integration Services. Then chack whether the paclage is registered in the
local msdb database. If it is somewhere on the file system, search for the
*.dtsx files with Windows Explorer.

DTL job error log details -- sql server 2000
In job history for a DTS job I get percent complete and not futher details
when the job fails. There is no log written anywhere.
How to debug such issues?
Tks
MangeshYou can try by clicking 'Show Step details' in top right corner of the job
history section. That will show you step wise details of the result
execution. As far as logging is concerned, you can log each step's details in
a directory of your choice. This can be done while you are creating the job
steps.

dtexec hangs unexpectedly
I have noticed a strange behaviour when running some of my packages with dtexec. The packages use EventHandlers to log information to a database using the Execute SQL Task with the query stored in a variable. This variable is further part of the package configuration, so that I can change the query without changing the package itself. Now, this all works fine, until I made a typo in the query causing the syntax to be invalid, ie changing SELECT to SELCET. Now, one would expect the package to fail, and it does, if I run it through the debugger in Visual Studio, but when I run it using dtexec it just hangs and I have to kill the process using the Task Manager.
Peculiarly, I tried doing the same thing with a task that was not contained in an EventHandler, and then the package fails as expected, both when running it in the debugger and using dtexec. This is not a major problem, but what I am afraid of is that one day the database server will be down and cause an error in the Execute SQL Task in the EventHandler, causing dtexec to hang indefinitely. Has anyone else had problems like these?
Regards,
Lars
That's a really interesting observation Lars. I'd certainly be very worried about this happening as well. It might be worth logging as a bug.
I've certainly noticed dtexec appearing to hang but have never managed to track down why. Perhaps this was the reason.
-Jamie
|||I finally managed to track down the problem. It is described here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.diagnostics.process.standardoutput.aspx and it is the deadlock that arises when reading both standard input and standard error after eachoter. In other words, this was related to my poor .NET skills and not a problem within SSIS.

Lars

DSN VS Logon
database connection under ODBC. Everyone is getting a log on dialog.
Can any one help! ThanksYou didn't provide many details but is it safe to guess that
you are trying to use Windows Authentication in the DSN and
that all user who use this DSN are being prompted to enter a
user and password?
There was a similar issue with an old version of MDAC (2.5
maybe) if that's the case. You can check your MDAC
installation and version with component checker. Component
checker and MDAC versions are available for download from:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/

We're moving on servers to a new Domain (btoins.com) then we will reimage
the workstation and move them. Before we moved it the DSN file worked fine w
e
didn't get any Windows Authentication box. We did a temp fix by putting the
domain users(genelco.com) in the local machine administrator group. Why
what's up with that - Thanks for your help!

You can end up with some issues on logins, domain mappings
when moving domains but I can't tell from your post if this
is the issue or not. What domain are the users logging into
when they try to use the DSN? What domain are they listed
under in syslogins?
