I need to create a DTS Export job that can be imported to
MSDE via script. But I need to be able to alter the
destination server in the script.
When I use DTS wizard to create the job and create a script
from it. I do not see how I can change the destination
server within the script, because it looks to be encoded.
Any Ideas?
You will need to use the DTS editor in Enterprise Manager to create a global
variable for your server name and make that a parameter to dtsrun. Use the
dtsrunui utility to create the command line with the global variable
parameter. Then add a Dynamic Properties task to your package that sets the
server name from the global variable and make this task the first thing that
runs in your package. Using this method you can set the names of servers,
databases and other values in the package dynamically.

DTS Date Problem
I have a DTS package that imports from a text file into SQL 2k SP3. I am trying to insert a field (along with the imported fields) during the DTS execution that will be the current date. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I really didn't think I should have to schedule a seperate job to UPDATE each record with the current date...
Make sense?Make a datetime column in the imported table default to getdate().|||Originally posted by joejcheng
Make a datetime column in the imported table default to getdate().
hehe, thanks. That's what I was trying to do, but for some stupid reason I wasn't putting the () on the end of getdate.
Thanks

DTS
One quick question....
If I DTS to import some data, does is trigger replication??
I imported a text file using DTS and I don't see the data in my subscriber.
Thank you in advance
Marlene
Marlene,
which task did you use to import the data? If it was the transform data
task, then unchecking the 'fast load' option should cause the triggers to
fire.

I'm using the wizard to import Data, and I can not find the option you
mention. Is there any way that I can specify this option using the
wizard??
Thank you in advance.

|||This option is not available through the import/export date menu itmes, but is available through the DTS services.
When you create a package, right click on your transformation and select properties. Its in the Options tab and is called Use Fast Load.
